MY RESPONSIBILITIES

I will teach students the language of music in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is my goal to empower each student to influence their music education with input based on their interest and long-term goals. I will tailor the curriculum to match each student's specific learning needs.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books, music, and instrument. To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

Students must have their own instruments to practice at home. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument please let me know. I am happy to set appointments to meet the student and their family for instrument trials and make specific recommendations.

TUITION AND SCHEDULE

*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.

Tuition is calculated per half-hour lesson and the total for the allotted lessons per month may vary based on the lessons in the month. Tuition may vary by month in the case of my own pre-planned absence.

The studio is set to transition to autopay very shortly, which will eliminate the possibility of late fees for the most part, but until then, the following applies.

Tuition invoices will be sent by the 24-26th of the month prior for all enrolled students. Invoices will always reflect 4 lessons in a month. Some months have 5 weeks in them, and in those months, the 5th week will be counted as an automatic make-up credit. You can take those weeks off or do them as a normal lesson and build up the credit. There is a schedule for those make-up weeks that has been emailed out to the family of every student, and you can feel free to ask me for it again if you would like to see it.

Other ways we can do make-up lessons include extending the normal lesson time or doing more than one lesson in a week. Make-up lessons will always be communicated and must be agreed upon by both parties.

Payment received after the fifth of each month is subject to a $15 late fee. Payment received after the 10th of the month is subject to an additional $10 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.

Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.

Preferred methods of payment are cash or check; Stripe is now available for your convenience.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a guarenteed make-up lesson, meaning the canceled lesson may not always be rescheduled or refunded. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make-up lesson for that month.

Each month one day will be offered for make-up lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.

Make-up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.

Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.

Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. P
lanned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.

MUSIC & MATERIALS

Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by me and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.

COMMITMENT

When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. This basically states that a commitment of about 4 months is required when enrolling for lessons. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-case basis each month before tuition is due.

If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.

I also require at minimum a 30-day notice of pausing or cancelling lessons, so please be sure to notify and update me accordingly if you wish to pause the lessons for the student.

Fall Term - September through December
Spring Term - January through May
Summer Term - June through August

Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.

STUDIO OFFICE HOURS

Office hours for the studio are when I will be most responsive to messages. These hours are Monday Thursday, 8:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. Outside of these hours, I may not send or receive messages. It is best to contact the studio between these hours, and any message not responded to will receive a response on the next business day during office hours.

PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE FORM

From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.

By enrolling and paying tuition for my child in Maxwell Weltman's studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2020/2021 school year.
