Weltman Studios - Flat Rate Tuition Studio Policy
MY RESPONSIBILITIES
I will guide students to their own journey of self-expression with the guitar as the primary vehicle. I will ask students what they want to learn and design lessons to hit those goals. I will also use my teaching methods and intuition to introduce new techniques and musical material to support the goals of the student. It is my goal to show each student how they are actually their own best teacher!
STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment ready, all necessary music (which is included in all lesson follow up emails), and instruments fully tuned and prepared. For success with the guitar, tuning (or a tuning check) should happen every day and every practice session. I am available for support on tuning for any who are new to this process!
To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.
Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.
Students must have their own instruments to practice at home and be tuning them regularly. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument please let me know. I am happy to answer any questions and make specific recommendations.
TUITION AND SCHEDULE
*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.
Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 43 lessons offered by the studio throughout the year, and the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays, personal performance opportunities, or illness) will be communicated in advance.
All payments are non-refundable. After the first payment, invoicing and payment will run automatically on the same day. Tuition will be drawn on the 22nd of each month (in advance of the 1st) from the method on file. This date is flexible with advance communication. All automatic payments will be run through My Music Staff.
If a payment is returned or declined a 48-hour window will be provided to adjust the payment method and resubmit payment. Invoices paid 5 days after the due date of the invoice will receive a $20 late fee. Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.
CANCELLATION AND MAKE-UP LESSON POLICY
Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be eligible for a make-up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24+ hours notice will be credited as a make-up lesson for that month. Make-up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition. Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days of being assigned.
With notice, up to 1 make-up lesson credit can be provided each trimester (January-April; May-August; September-December), subject to availability.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible. Teacher cancellations outside of the guaranteed 43 annual lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Tuition is based on the number of lessons the studio schedules and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month. *A student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
DISCONTINUATION OF LESSONS POLICY
For canceling lessons for more than a week (such as pausing lessons due to an extended vacation where the guitar will not travel with you) or discontinuing enrollment in the studio, a 30-day notice is required before the month where you would like the lessons to stop. For example, to pause lessons in May, notice would be given on or before April 1st. Without a 30-day notice, the family is still required to pay for the next pay period. The following invoice will still be charged, and all lessons will be given. This policy allows us to wind down in a natural manner and find a place to close the lessons where the student feels confident in continuing their musical journey after leaving the studio!
When pausing lessons for an extended period of time, your original scheduled time slot is not guaranteed to remain open. If you would like to keep your time slot exactly as it was, normal tuition is required during the time you are requesting off.
STUDIO OFFICE HOURS
Office hours for the studio are when I will be most responsive to messages. These hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm EST. Outside of these hours, I may not send or receive messages as quickly. It is best to contact the studio between these hours, and any message not responded to will receive a response on the next business day during office hours.
Email is the preferred method of communication. All email communication will be done through the address weltmanstudios@gmail.com - this inbox is dedicated to studio matters. Any issues that are of a more complex nature than is suitable for an email exchange will be shifted to a verbal phone call. Verbal conversations can be planned around lesson time, or at another time when both parties are available.
By enrolling and paying tuition for my child in Max Weltman’s studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2025 calendar year.

From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. The students are identified only by first name.
